12 Sep Long Time, No Blog
Hi Everyone,
I know, it’s been forever! And, I really don’t have much to report on the transition front; I’m sort of in a holding pattern on all fronts. I’ve been busy, with family, with work, and keeping an ever growing list of appointments, but nothing Earth shattering is going on.
I have discovered that, except for my impending coming out to the family adventure, finding and keeping my feminine voice is going to be an ordeal; nothing really bad, just a lot of practice and a lot of commitment. Commitment and perseverance are not difficult for me, but practice… I always hated practice of any kind – individual, all alone practice. If I’m in a group or band or something organized I will practice until I drop and enjoy every second of it, but alone, all by myself? I don’t know if it’s ADS or what it is , but when it comes to solitary practice I can always find something much more urgent that simply must be taken care of immediately or the World will come to an end, or Dick Chaney will somehow end up President of the United States. My voice will take a lot of work over many months, and probably constant maintenance after that forever, but I’ll get there.
One of the things keeping me in a holding pattern these last few weeks is that I’ve come to the realization that before I can present a female, let alone go full time, I need to be much further down the electrolysis road. Right now I have to let my facial hair grow out for most of the week prior to electrolysis to the point that no amount of makeup will cover up. So, although I’m still moving forward and getting thing done – therapy, voice, HRT letters, and some paper work, I really need to just sit back and enjoy the ride – enjoy life, and enjoy being me and spending time with my family, because I probably have a good year ahead of me of weekly electrolysis before I can consider presenting myself to the World; this is a little depressing and somewhat frustrating, but it’s reality, so I my as well make the best of it.
Hey I’m Going to Groundhog Day!!!
On an entirely different note; I’m going to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on February 2nd, 2013 to see the World’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, make his annual spring time arrival prognostication. I already got the rooms booked!! This was just a crazy thought three year ago, it made it on to my Bucket List last year, and this year I took the plunge and made definite plans for next year – which is sort of this year, or maybe not.
I’ve never really been a festival going kind of person, or anything involving large outdoor crowds, but, even though the movie is one of my top 10, I’ve always been fascinated with the groundhog ever since I was a child. As far as traveling, and outdoor events and a lot of other things; my tastes and attitudes are changing, so next February I’m getting bundled up, putting on the goofy hat, and heading on up to gobbler’s Knob to see Punxsutawney Phil.
That’s it for now; I’m off to find something to do that doesn’t involve practicing my voice.
Love,
